CHAPEL HILL – Dorothy Boduch, age 90, died peacefully in Chapel Hill, North Carolina on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. She was born in Ludlow, Massachusetts to Joseph and Helen Monette on October 24, 1931. She grew up in nearby Indian Orchard, Massachusetts and attended Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Dorothy met the love of her life, Stanley Boduch, at a CYO dance, and they married in 1951. They lived happily together for 63 years. Prior to settling in Chapel Hill, Dorothy and Stanley resided in Ludlow; Hillsboro, Illinois; Lenoir, North Carolina; Batavia, Illinois; and Rock Hill, South Carolina.
In addition to being a devoted mother to her children, Dorothy spent many years volunteering at various organizations including the Catholic Church and Hospice. She took great joy spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a voracious reader and loved nothing more than enjoying a hot cup of tea while reading the latest bestseller or most current editions of the New York Times and Raleigh News and Observer.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was proceeded in death by her siblings Rose, Edward, and Joseph; her husband Stanley; and her grandson Alex.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, Anne Serody and husband, Jonathan, of Chapel Hill; Michael Boduch and wife, Jackie, of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Mark Boduch and wife, Patty, of Woodstock, Illinois; her sister Marie Rene of Springfield, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Ben, David, Laura, Daniel, and Patrick Boduch, and Christopher, David, and Megan Serody; and four great-grandchildren, Cole, Olivia, Lily, and Lucas Boduch. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Catholic viewing at the Hall-Wynne Funeral Home on Monday, March 14th from 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, March 15th, at the St. John Fisher Chapel adjacent to St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
