Dorothy Marie Brook Blackwell

Oxford: Dorothy Marie Brooks Blackwell, 89, of Oxford went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. She was a native of Granville County, the daughter of the late Pebbin C. Brooks and Hattie Hobgood Brooks, and preceded ineeath by James C. Blackwell after 63 years of marriage. Dorothy was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choir, the WMU, and the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a former employee of Granville Furniture Company, a bookkeeper for Farmer???s Warehouse, and a Homemaker. She was a loving wife and mother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her daughter Betty Lou Watson (Ricky) of Oxford and her son Dan Blackwell (Phyllis) of Oxford; grandchildren Laura Wood, Dottie Tart, Jamie Blackwell, Jeremy Watson, and Nathan Watson; great grandchildren Joey Wood, Kristen Wood, Nick Tart, Meredith Tart, Jacob Watson, Jared Watson, and J.T. Blackwell. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday February 5, 2016 at Tabbs Creek Baptist Church by Reverend Staneenkins and Reverend Lamar Wheeler. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church and at other times at Dorothy???s home.
