Oxford, NC: Douglas William Inscoe, 46, passed away peacefully and suddenly on Friday, June 16, 2023 at his home in Oxford. Born in Durham County on September 27, 1976, he was preceded in death by his father Alex Brent Inscoe. A beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend—he always had a smile.

Doug is survived by his loving mother, Brenda Cates Hart; brother, Brent Wayne Inscoe; daughter, Brianna Gale Inscoe; and grandson, Bentley—who will greatly miss his “Bugatti.”

From a young age, Doug loved playing and watching baseball and basketball and would grow up to become one of the UNC Tar Heels most devoted fans. Always in something Carolina blue and coordinated, he was known for his mischievous sense of humor and love of pranks. Other hobbies included swimming, roller skating, and discovering a great origin story on the History Channel.

He spent most of his life in Oxford, North Carolina and maintained many lifelong friendships formed in early grade school. For many years, he followed in his father’s footsteps and was a local plumber. Doug loved meeting new people and had a charismatic personality. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan and will be officiated by Reverend Joe Don Cooper. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service and burial will follow the service at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates any contributions to his funeral expenses sent to Gentry-Newell & Vaughan.
