Announcing the passing of Dr. Albert Milton Arky February 13, 2012 It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Albert Milton Arky announces his passing. "Milt" died Monday, February 13, 2012, due to congestive heart failure. He was 82. Milt was born in Yale, Oklahoma to the late Jake and Bertha Polachek Arky oneecember 6, 1929. Milt graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Tulsa Uneersity with a B.S. degree and received his M.D. degree from the Uneersity of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He was certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and held a Fellowship at Cornell Uneersity Medical College. He held an internship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, IL and completed his residency at NY Hospital. Upon completion of his Residency, he was a Pediatric Neurology Fellow at NY Hospital Hospital for Special Surgery. He served in the US Naval Reserves for two years at the US Naval Hospital in St. Albans, NY For 30 years, Milt practiced pediatric medicine with the Closter Medical Group in Closter, NJ, servineeneewood and Pascack Valley hospitals. After retiring from private practice, Milt served as the Chief of Ambulatory Pediatrics at New York Hospital. Milt was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Medical Society. Before moving to Pittsboro, NC, Milt and his family were long time residents of Tenafly, NJ. Milt was a leader by example, role model, teacher, sage advisor and valued friend. Milt's passion and dedication to his patients was demonstrated by his willineess to make house calls long after they ceased to be fashionable. To all who had the pleasure of knowing Milt, he was a genee giant of a man, an epicurean of food and wine, world traveler, enjoyed history and the arts, and above all a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather and unee. Milt was married to Margaret Hilgartner for over 50 years. As he told us, "the best thing I ever did was marry your mother." He will be lovingly remembered by all. The family will receive friends at 3000 Galloway Ridge at Fearrington, in Pittsboro, NC from 4:00pm-5:00pm on Saturday, February 18, 2012. On Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 4:00 pm a memorial service and committal will be conducted at The Doris Duke Visitors Center at Duke Gardens in Durham, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to Duke Uneersity School of Medicine, Development & Alumni Affairs Office, 512 S. Mangum Street, Suite 400, Durham, NC 27701-3973. Attention: Joseph W. Tynan. Please write "Arky Gift Fund " in the memo line of the check Milt is survived by his daughter, Liz Arky; sons George Arky and wife Tita, Jack Arky and wife Emilie Beck; sister Marilyn Jablonski and niece Brenda Jablonski; grandchildreneeter, Clare, Grace, Laura, Julian and Zane. Milton was preceded ineeath by his wife Margaret Hilgartner Arky and a brother, Marshall Arky.
