Edward K. Briggs, age 80, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. He was the son of the late Kennerson Briggs and Sallie Briggs.  Ed was born in Granville County on February 4, 1942.

Ed was a strong fixture in the community. He worked with his father at their country store for over 20 years.  He met and married his wife, Jeanette and built a name by the beautiful bread bowls that he created. 

Ed is survived by his longtime friend, Margaret Huff; his special niece, Robin Blevins (Gary) and their children, Ellen and Billy Blevins.  He is also survived by his brothers in law, Steve Hawks (Reba), Skip Hawks (Debbie) and James Hilton. He will be dearly missed by his nieces, Dana, Amanda and Rachel and many extended family and friends too numerous to name. 

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Hawks Briggs; his parents; his brother, Buck Briggs and sister, Linda Hilton.  

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Oxford, NC and officiated by Reverend Keith Williams.  A visitation for friends and family will be held from12:30 pm to 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.   Burial will follow the service in the Church’s cemetery.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made in his honor to Mt. Zion Baptist Church for the Cemetery Fund.
