Edwin Arnold Dennis

Edwin ???Coach??? Arnold Dennis, age 81, died on Good Friday, April 3, 2015. A Durham native, Coach was born to the late Edwin J. and Mabel Jacksoneennis on neember 2, 1933. Coach graduated from East Carolina Uneersity in 1959 and spent 36 years at Holton Middle School in Durham serving as coach, principal and athletic director where he retired in 1995. Throughout his teaching and coaching career, Coach served as a second father to many of his ???kids???. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Helen Oldham Dennis of Durham; and close friends, the McGranahan???s, especially Marcail ???Messy Bessy???. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham. Presiding will be former students of Coach Dennis, the Rev. Earl Echols and the Rev. Jack Moody. Burial will follow in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 in the funeral home.
