Elaine Ruth Sandahl

DURHAM ??? Elaine Ruth Sandahl, age 90, died peacefully ineer sleep oneec 9, 2014, at The Forest at Duke. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, to the late David and Ruth Graper Carlson. Elaine graduated from the Uneersity of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied English and Mathematics. It was in Madison that Elaine met her husband of 51 years, Robert Abel Sandahl. An avid reader, Elaine was a math teacher and homemaker who enjoyed travel, bridge, music, golf and tennis, and gardening. Elaine is survived by her daughter Lynneemaklus and son-in-law Richard of Chapel Hill, and her cousin Karen Bailey of Palo Alto, CA. She is preceded ineeath by her husband. The family would like to express its gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care and compassion shown to Elaine by The Forest at Duke Health and Wellness staff. The family also wishes acknowledge the exceptional contributions to Elaine???s quality of life provided by her long-term companions Judy, Tracey, and Brenda.
