OXFORD: Elam Parham Hobgood, Sr., age 75 of 2036 Tommie Daniel Rd. died Sunday July 3, 2011 at his home. He was a native of Granville Co. and was the son of the late Thomas Newton and Josephine Daniel Hobgood, Sr. Elam was a life time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, serving as deacon, Sunday School teacher, baseball coach, softball coach for women and men for many years. He loved all hunting and fishing activities, and was President of the Enon Hunting Club for many years. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P. M. oneednesday July 6, 2011 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by the Rev. Keith Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kay Loftis Hobgood; a daughter, Sandra Jo Barbour Jerry of Oxford; a son Elam Parham Hobgood, Jr. Lori Love of Oxford; a brother Thomas Newton Hobgood, Jr. Miriam A. of Raleigh; two sisters, Violet Hobgood Thigpen Alwood of Danville Va. and Romona Hobgood Cash James W. of Clayton; four grandchildren, Samuel Elam Stevens Briana, Seth Daniel Smith, Kaylee S. Hobgood aneellen P. Hobgood; two great grandchildren Bryce and Brynn Marie Stevens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM prior to the services in the fellowship hall of Mt.
