Elizabeth Ann Johnson

North Carolina – Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Johnson, age 89, died on August 30, 2022. She was born on November 13,1932 to the late Harry and Helen Kish Young.


Elizabeth was born in Mercer County, New Jersey. She married Byron H. Johnson in Allentown, New Jersey on February 18, 1950. Over the years came six children and in 1964, a move to Lawyersville, New York where they established the Hickory Acres Farm. Farming was a big part of her life while raising the children and with the many duties of a farm wife. Byron, Elizabeth and the children worked to build an impressive herd of registered Holstein cattle. Showing cows with their children, 4H club leading, cooking family meals, sewing, gardening, reading, exercising at Curves, her beloved Dachshund, Amy, traveling, and being with family were some of the many labors of love for her. Elizabeth was an avid New York Yankees fan from early childhood, and later in life became a devoted Duke University Basketball fan when she moved to North Carolina in 2010 to spend the last chapter of her life with daughter Susan.


Elizabeth is survived by daughters Patricia (husband Bill) Notter of Holyoke, Colorado and Susan (husband Ron) Wilson of Clayton North Carolina, sons Robert (wife Karen) Johnson of Endicott, New York, Frank (wife Judy Pangman) Johnson of Carlisle, New York and Kenneth (wife Sheila) Johnson of Cobleskill, New York, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by parents Harry Young and Helen Kish Young, husband Byron H. Johnson, brothers Richard (wife Lillian) of Wrightstown, New Jersey and Fred (wife Betty) of Bricktown, New Jersey and son Byron (wife Alejandra) Johnson Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada.


There will be a visitation at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home in Cobleskill NY on Thursday 9/8/22 from 5-7 pm and a graveside service at Lawyersville Cemetery on Friday 9/9/22 at 10 am. Immediately following friends and family are invited to a gathering to remember Betty.
