OXFORD: Elsie C. Currin age 84, died Monday, October 19, 2009 at Granville House in Oxford. A native of Granville County, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Carrie Puckett Currin. She was a homemaker and a member of Hester Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and the Fellowship Group. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. from Hester Baptist Church by the Dr. Lavelle Waters and Dr. Randy Bridges. Burial will follow at Hester Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving is a son, James N. "Jimmy" Currin, Jr. of Oxford; two daughters, Nancy C. Garrett and Carolyn C. Cutts, both of Raleigh; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Currin is preceded ineeath by her husband, James Nelson Currin; sisters, Nancy Mae Currin, Carrie Thomas Currineestelle Frazier, Lodema Hobgood and Anne Currin; brothers, Watson Currin, John June Currin and Taylor Currin, all of Oxford. The family will receive friends oneednesday evening, October 21, 2009 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 P.M. at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hester Baptist Church, PO Box 964, Oxford, NC 27565 or Alzheimer Disease Foundation, 742 North Main Street, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526 or the charity of your choice.
