Elvin Ray Elliott, age 88, died peacefully at his home on March 9, 2022. Elvin was a lifelong resident of Granville County. He was born on September 7, 1933, to his late parents, Willie Franklin Elliott and Annie Bray Elliott.
Elvin is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Uzelia Ann Longmire Elliott; his son, Terry Elliott (Jodi) and their family, Whitley Moreno (Javier) and their daughter, Mia and his step granddaughter, Lilly Moss; his daughter, Anita Vanerelli (Tony) and their family, Andrea Coghill (Don) and Karsyn; his second daughter, Cynthia Blackley (Bobby) and their son, Aaron; and his third daughter, Melba Hobgood (Buck) and their family, Jessica Carrington (Chris) and their children, Jacob and Katelyn; Eva Elliott (Anthony) and Matthew; and William Hobgood (Ashton) and their children, Avery and Brett. Elvin is also survived by his sister, Peggy Forlines; his brothers, Ralph Elliott (Marie) and Owen Elliott (Shirley); his sister-in-law’s, Betty Elliott and Jean Elliott and many nieces and nephews too numerous to name. Elvin will be greatly missed by many friends and acquaintances that he met over the years.
Elvin was predeceased by his brothers, Garland Elliott, Julius Elliott, Otis Elliott, Clifton Elliott Robert Elliott and James Elliott along with his sisters, Lucille Puryear and Gail Wade.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the sanctuary at Hester Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors an hour prior in the Fellowship Hall. The service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Jeff Hensley and burial will follow in the Church’s cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials in his honor to the Hester Baptist Church Steeple Fund, in care of Mary Helen Parrott mailed to Hester Baptist Church, P.O. Box 964, Oxford, NC 27565.
