(Durham) – Emily Louise Dashner, age 100, died at the Carolina Reserve in Durham on June 24, 2022. She was born on 02-16-1922 to the late Emma and Lewis Howe.
She was born and raised in Springfield Vermont. She attended the University of Vermont, and then nurse’s training at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Cadet Nurse during WWII, where she received her RN degree. She was a homemaker most of her life, raising four children. She enjoyed duplicate bridge, playing golf and earned two Club Championships (Francourt Farms in Elmira, NY and Whispering Pines Country Club), and was a volunteer for many years at the Whispering Pines Thrift Shop, as well as for many activities through the Catholic Church.
Emily Louise is survived by her four children, Roger Dashner (Lillian) of Hendersonville, NC, Peter Dashner (Diane) of Alta Loma, CA, Paul Dashner (Shona) of Cincinnati, OH, and Carol McMorrow (Mike) of Durham, NC., as well as six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, James W. Dashner.
A mass and graveside service will follow in Springfield, Vermont later this summer.
