Ernest Jackson Horton, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2011, with his loving daughter by his side. Ernest was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. He was a lifelong faithful member and leader at Bells Baptist Church. After serving his country honorably in the Uneed States Army, Ernest worked for the Uneed States Postal Service in Apex and retired after 25 years of service. He was an award-winning wood craftsman as well as an avid gardener. Ernest was preceded ineeath by his wife, Barbara Copeland Hortoneearlier this year; his son, Barry Jackson Horton; and, his parents, Aneew and Vallie Holloman Horton. Left to cherish Ernest's memory is his loving daughter, Angela Horton Joyner and her husband, David; a daughter-in-law, Terri Horton; grandchildren: Seth Horton and his wife, Katie; Aaron Horton and wife, Heather; Alyson Joyner Shumate and her husband, Jordan; and Ryan Joyner and his wife, Jessica; and great-granddaughters, Willow Horton and Lily Grace Horton. He also leaves behind a sister, Mable Cross of Portsmouth, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Jeannee Dollar; a sister-in-law, Sharon Martin and her husband, Craig; a brother-in-law, Ronald Copeland and his wife Jean, all of Apex; and maneextended family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Bells Baptist Church in Apex from 6:00 8:00 p.m. A service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held Friday, December 16, 2011 at Bells Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. His cremains, along with those of his beloved wife, will be committed to their final resting place at the Bells Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. Flowers are welcome or the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Bells Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or the Fellowship Hall Expansion Fund, 1274 Farrington Road, Apex, NC 27523.
