Mrs. Estelle Hodges Vaughan, 94, died Friday afternoon, October 21, 2005 in Hillcrest Convalescent Center. Mrs. Vaughan was native of Durham and the daughter of the late Estelle Era King and William Edgar Hodges. She was a librarian at Bethesda School for 14 years. Mrs. Vaughan worked as librarian of the Coppridge Memorial Medical Library at Watts Hospital for 13 years. A devoted member of Bethesda Baptist Church, she served as a Deaconess and taught in the Sunday School Department for 40 years. She was preceded ineeath by three husbands, Jack Ellis, Lloyd Hodnett, Onee Vaughan and one brother, Aubrey Hodges. Surviving are her daughter, Jean Ellis Beavers and husband, Paul of Apex; stepson, Bill Hodnett and wife, Faye of Durham; sister, Dorothy Driver and husband Harold of Durham; five grandchildren, Deborah Roberson and husband Blake, Jonathaneeavers and wife Karen, Mark Beavers, Daniel Beavers and Reid Hodnett and wife Julie; four great-grandchildren; two nieces, Cheryl Caddell and husband, Jim of Durham, Janet Sparrow and husband Larry of West Lake, TX and nephew, Lamond Hodges and wife Jeannette of Oak Hill, NC.
