Estoneerry Couch, Jr.

Estoneerry Couch, Jr., died January 8, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital at Durham Regional Hospital after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 29, 1933 in Durham and raised by the late Walter aneesther Aldridge. Terry worked at the Durham Herald for 26 years from 1952 to 1978, leaving as print shop foreman. He then worked for IBM as a safety instructor in The Learning Center until his retirement in 1995. Terry served from 1951 to 1962 in the Army National Guard 139th Infantry. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, bass fishing and trout fishing at Atlantic Beach. Gardening was also a passion and for many years Terry provided his friends and neighbors with fresh vegetables. Terry was an active member of Glendale Heights Uneed Methodist Church for 48 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Becky Matthews Couch; two daughters, Terri Taylor and her husband Joe of Raleigh and Cindy Gardner and her husband Kevin of Cary; three grandchildren, Nicole Gardner at UNC-Greensboro, Drew Gardner at Elon Uneersity and Joseph Taylor of Raleigh. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Friday at Glendale Heights Uneed Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Sneer officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, Inc., P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, NC 28450-0127 or Glendale Heights Uneed Methodist Church, 908 Leon Street, Durham, NC 27704. The family would like to thank all of their friends and relatives for their prayers and support during Terrys illness.
