Eugene Holland "Chip" Moore, III, age 57, died peacefully Sunday morning, July 12, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital. A Durham native, Chip was born to the late Beatrice Womble Moore aneeugene Holland Moore, Jr. on August 26, 1951. Chip graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and taught in the Durham Public Schools for 30 years. He played a significant role in the lives of many middle school students while teaching English at Githens and Carrington Middle Schools. For 20 years, he served as an instructor/academic director for the Duke Uneersity Young Writers' Camp. Chip is survived by his sister, Betsy Moore DeCampo and husband, Joseph, of Morehead City; three nephews: Daniel DeCampo of Chicago, IL; Luke DeCampo and Timothy DeCampo, both of Morehead City; and many, many special friends. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 3, with the Reverend Lisa Brown-Cole presiding. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., in Durham. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chip's memory may be made to the Duke Uneersity Young Writers' Camp, Eugene H. Moore III Scholarship Fund, Duke Uneersity, P.O. Box 90700, Durham, NC 27708.
