Eunice Capps May

Eunice Capps May, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Oxford, NC, on August 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in the Watkins Community of Vance County to J. Gilbert Capps and Frances Wrenn Capps, Eunice lived a life full of love and dedication. At the age of 16, she married Robert Lee May (Bob), and they celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary earlier this year. Together, they built a life they loved and raised two children: Diane and Tommy.

Eunice had a fulfilling career as a hairdresser, a profession she embraced with passion and skill for most of her adult life. In addition to her career, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends. Her faith and community involvement were important to her as an active member of Oxford United Methodist Church. Until the very end, Eunice was filled with grace, charm, and gratitude.

Eunice is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; her children, Diane M. Ennis (Jerry) of Denver, NC and Tommy May (Kathy) of Oxford, NC; her grandchildren, Rob Stevens (Michelle) of Chesapeake, VA, Thomas May (Anna) of Henderson, NC, Allison May (Paul Smith) of Oxford, NC, Justin Ennis (Malana) of Mint Hill, NC, and Travis Ennis of Garner, NC; her great-grandchildren, Joshua Stevens, Carly Stevens, Hampton May, Jacob Ennis, and Matthew Ennis; and her brother, Maurice Capps of Hickory, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Oxford United Methodist Church, 105 West McClanahan Street, Oxford, NC 27565.

A funeral service to honor Eunice Capps May will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm at her loving church, Oxford United Methodist with the Reverend Glenn Stallsmith officiating. A visitation for friends and family will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Burial to follow the service at Meadowview Memorial Park.
