Evelyn Ellis Franklin

Evelyn Ellis Franklin died at Duke Regional Hospital on July 1, 2016 at the age of 79. Evelyn was born on May 8, 1937 to the late Ollie Jackson and Katie Peterson Ellis in Durham, NC. She was very active ineer community with the Shrinnette of the Durham Shrine Club (Masonic Lodge #210), and she also voluneered a lot of time to the Oxford Orphanee. Evelyn and her husband, Donald, both loved and served their community and their church, Duke???s Chapel UMC throughout their 44 years of marriage. Survivors include her brothers Marvin Ellis (Evonne) of Greenville, NC and Clayborn (Vickie) of Durham, NC; sister, Ruby Elmore of Winston-Salem. Although Evelyn and Donald had no children of their own, they loved and cared for their many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Chapel on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. The family invites friends to a visitation at Hall-Wynne following the service from 3-5 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date at Woodlawneemetery in Durham. Flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or memorial contributions in Evelyn???s memory canee made to Duke???s Chapel UMC, 807 Old Oxford Rd, Durham, NC 27704.
