Florence Elizabeth Clouse peacefully passed away at Hillcrest Convalescent Center on December 22, 2016. She was born to the late John and Jenny Minns Cuthill on August 14, 1924, in Buffalo, NY. Florence earned a Ph.D. in physical education at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She had a long career as a physical education teacher and served as an Assistant Director of Physical Education in the Omaha Public School System for many years. Florence was active in her church and college sorority, enjoyed volunteering at the Omaha Playhouse and Offutt Air Force Base Thrift Store, and was a devoted traveler and adventurer with the Mouth of the Platte Chapter of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation. Florence was also an avid golfer all her life, having learned the game as a child from her father. Florence is survived by her loving daughter, Joni Tanner and husband Terry, of Durham, NC; son, Jim Clouse and wife Claudia Bachand, of Fairfax Station, VA; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth, and Meghan Florence. Florence is preceded in death by her husband, James B. Clouse; her brother, John and his wife, Betty Cuthill. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 am, on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, in Sheffield, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gethsemane Presbyterian Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
