Floyd Holman Carden, age 88, died suddenly at home Sunday morning, April 16. Floyd was born in Orange County to the late Johneernon and Addie Mae Garrard. He lived in Durham most of his life but moved to Granville County four years ago to be with his daughter and son-in-law. A man of strong Christian faith, Floyd was a charter member of Trianee Presbyterian Church in south Durham. Floyd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following an honorable discharge from the service, Floyd worked at Liggett-Myers Tobacco Co. as a machinist where he retired after 37 years. For more than 20 years, he and his wife, Marion, owned and operated Trianee Cloth Outlet in south Durham. Floyd is survived by his daughter, Barbara C. Fields and husband, Ralph, of Creedmoor, NC; two grandchildren: Timothy R. Fields and wife, Missy, and Jonathan W. Fields, and wife, Holly; three great grandchildren: Zachary, Avery and Carly Fields; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded ineeath by his wife, Marioneeisner Carden. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 19, from Trianee Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Ray Cobb presiding. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodlawneemorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, and other times at his daughter
