Frances Colman Tarry

(Oxford) Frances Nicholson Tarry, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus and entered the Church triumphant at Universal Health Care on February 2, 2022.

Frances was born on March 11, 1929, in Richmond, Virginia to her parents, the late Clarence Maurice Nicholson, Jr and Anna Christian Guy Nicholson.  She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s School in Richmond and attended St. Margaret’s School of Tappahannock, Virginia.

Frances was a long-time member of Oxford Presbyterian Church.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Anna Christian Tarry Hewett (Darrell) of Simpsonville, SC, and Evelene "Lene" Royster Tarry Cash (Harry) of Oxford, NC,; her grandchildren, Catherine Cash Doolittle (Eric), John Hunt Cash (Morgan), Charles Nicholson Hewett (Renea); her great-grandchildren, Matthew Hunt Cash, Devin Colman Doolittle, and Sophie Lee Cash; and her sister-in-law, Peyton Clements Tarry.  She left behind her beloved Shih Tzu, Nick, who was her ever faithful companion.

Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dr. James Royster Tarry; her son, James Hunt Royster Tarry; her grandson, James “Jas” Royster Tarry Hewett; and her sisters, Ann Nicholson Adamson and Helen Nicholson Butcher

Whether wife, mama, “Granny”, “Gigi” or friend, Frances lived her life with courage, dignity, and grace. “She was a might of a lady in a mite of a body”

“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 3:10

There will be a private memorial service to celebrate Frances’ life well lived at a later Spring date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Murdoch Center, Alpine Cottage in Butner, NC or Samaritan’s Purse.

The family is ever grateful to Universal Health Care for their outstanding care during Frances’ short illness.
