Frances Kelly Braswell

Frances Kelly Braswell, fondly known as "Och", died peacefully Thursday evening, September 11, 2008, at Duke Medical Center. She was 90 years old. A Durham native, Frances was born to the late Mary Rigsbee and Banks C. Kelly, Sr. on May 29, 1918. Frances made a lasting impression oneeople with her wonderful wit and keeneense of humor. She neer heard a joke she didn't truly enjoy. On a weekly basis Frances took great delight ineerving her delicious Sunday dinners to family and friends. When she wasn't showcasing her culinary skills in the kitchen or exchanging jokes, Frances spent time ineer yard tending to her beautiful flowers. Frances is survived by her daughter, Nancy Currin and husband, Terry, of Durham, NC; her son, Howard B. "Butch" Braswell and wife, Josephine, of Eatontown, NJ; her sister, Betty K. Umstead of Durham; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, Howard B. Braswell and her brother, Banks C. Kelly, Jr. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 15, 2008 at Markham Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Forest M. Gale, Jr., presiding. Friends may visit Sunday evening, September 14, 2008 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
