Frank J. Force died peacefully at the Durham VA Hospice Center oneebruary 21, 2015. He was born in Caro, Michigan on June 2nd, 1920 to Maude and Frank Force. He was preceded ineeath by his beloved wife Florence, his brother Bill and sister Betty. He is survived by son Jim Force, daughters Sue Haut and Peggy Force, granddaughters Bridget Siedlecki, Kelly Haut, Amy Grissom, Robin Grissom, grandson Aneew Haut and great granddaughter Isabella Siedlecki. He has two sons-in-law, Rick Haut and Jim Grissom, a daughter-in-law, Chris Boyer and two grandsons-in-law, John Siedlecki and Scott Stockert. Frank attended Caro High School and went on to Central Michigan Uneersity. He met Florence during their first semester and they were married two years later. After graduating in 1943 he joined the U.S. Navy, being commissioned an Ensign U.S.N.R. He went to the Pacific aboard LST 709 and participated in eight different invasions aneeventually was promoted to command of the ship. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Lieutenant JG U.S.N.R. After the war Frank obtained a J.D. from the Uneersity of Michigan Law School, clerked with the Michigan Supreme Court and then took a position with REO Motor Company in Lansing, Michigan. In 1959 he became the first attorney for the Ford Motor Credit Company and finished his career there in 1979, retiring as a Vice President. When Frank and Florence moved to Detroit they joined Bushnell Coneegational Church. They particularly enjoyed belonging to the CO-WEDS group at Bushnell where they made lifelong friends. After retirement, Frank and Florence moved to Southern Pines, NC where Frank pursued a passion for golf. They also traveled extensively, including trips to Russia, Germany and Scotland as well as destinations all over the Uneed States. After Florence passed away in 2000 he moved to Durham, NC where two of his children live and Frank was active at Asbury Uneed Methodist Church. Frank Force was an honorable man with the utmost integrity. He was a loving husband and father devoted to his family, served as a leader and teacher in his Church, was an active voluneer in the community and a dear friend to many. He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Asbury Uneed Methodist Church, 806 Clarendon St., Durham, NC 27705 oneebruary 28, 2015 at 11:00am, luneeon to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
