Fulton Sutherland

DURHAM - Fulton Sutherland, 67, of Durham passed away Thursday, August 16th after an extensive illness with cancer. He grew up in Laurinburg, NC by a loving aneextended family. He graduated from Scotland High School and The Uneersity of North Carolina. Fulton found his true love, wife Pam by swaying her on a boat ride on John???s Pond in Laurinburg, continuously teasing she was a South Carolina girl. They were married 41 years and had two wonderful children, Kathryn and Will. His passion was North Carolina basketball and all thing Carolina, raising the roof more than once during heated competitions. He retired from the State of North Carolina where he worked in Humaneesources for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Justice for over 30 years. Fulton was very involved with his neighborhood community serving several terms on the Board of Directors, where he made many close friends. We will miss his easy humor and smile that warmed the hearts of many. Fulton is survived by wife, Pamela Pearce Sutherland of Bennettsville, SC, daughter, Kathryn, son, Will and his cuddle buddy canee friend, Tanner. Brother and sister in law, Jim and Marty Sutherland, nephew and wife, Jamie and Debra Sutherland of Laurinburg. Nieces Alice Sherwood and Mary Anita Morgan of Wilmington. Great nieces and nephews, Ashleigh, McKenna, Cooper and Sumlin. He is preceded ineeath by his parents, James L. and Mary Wall Sutherland and sister Mary James Criscola. A memorial/celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 24th at 11:00 at the Trianee Presbyterian Church in Durham. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 11:00 at the Old Hillside Cemetary in Laurinburg, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions canee made to the Trianee Presbyterian Church, 5001 Tudor Place, Durham, NC 27713.
