George Edward Ivey

OXFORD: George Edward Ivey age 71 of 4637 Fairport Road died Saturday August 30, 2008. He was a native of Halifax Co. NC and was the son of the late Thomas and Nellie Gardner Ivey. Retired from F A A and was a member of Oxford Baptist Church. George taught Leadership and Maneement Courses for the Economic Department of Vane-Granville Community College. He was a US Air Force Veteran. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday September 2, 2008 from Oxford Baptist Church, by Dr. J. Steven Bolton. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hester Ivey, of the home. Two daughters, Janet L. Ivey, of Oxford NC. Sherri I. Howard, of Greensboro, NC. Granddaughter, Cameron L. Howard. Three step-children, R. Thomas Hicks, of Winterville NC, J. Albert Hicks, of Oxford and Lois "Jamie" Hicks Boyd, of Stem NC. One sister, Glenda Morris, of Rich Square and three brothers, William Ivey and Larry Ivey, both of Rich Square NC and D.
