Gerald Michael Callahan

 Gerald (Jerry) M. Callahan of Rougemont, NC passed away unexpectantly on July 31, 2023 at the age of 88. He was born on May 14, 1935 in Nixon, IL. His parents were Patrick and Dorothy Callahan. He has 2 brothers and 1 sister. After serving in the Army, he went on to work at US Steel Southworks in Chicago, Illinois. before moving his family to Texas to work as an electronic technician, at Tucker Electronics in Garland, TX till he retired. He married Cathryn Callahan (Robinson) on November 7, 1970 and was married for 48 years. He had 4 daughters, 1 son, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and lots of people he called his adopted children. Jerry loved to fish, play cards, take pictures, read books and watch old western movies. Jerry was a kind, respectful, loving, hard-working man who was always willing to help anyone out when asked. Jerry was a true friend, a loving and wonderful husband, father, son and brother who will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Jerry was very active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses since his baptism on April 8, 1990.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Patrick and Dorothy Callahan, his wife Cathryn Callahan (Robinson), his brother Jack Callahan, his brother Patrick Callahan, his son Carl Callahan, his son-in-law Perry Rubinelli, his great grandson Lyric Rodriguez and his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Ron Bietler of Palm Bay, FL, his daughter and son-in-law Rosa Johnson and Fred Beard of Hammond,IN, daughter Lori Rubinelli (Johnson) of Tucson,AZ, daughter Clara Switzer (Callahan) of Rougemont,NC, daughter and son-in-law Tara and Sam Hanssard of Rougemont, NC, his 10 grandchildren: Robert Reyna, Benny Reyna Jr., Brittany Reyna, Kyle Hanssard, Patrick Hanssard, Stephen Callahan, Sheralyn Neal (Callahan), Jordan Rubinelli, Jayla Puente (Rubinelli) and Abigail Rubinelli, 2 great grandchildren: Gabe Reyna, Carter Neal, and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 19, 2023 at 3:00pm, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 114 Bowen Road Rougemont, NC 27572.
