DURHAM-Geraldine Vickers Talton, 90, died Monday, July 18, 2011 in Morehead City, NC. Born in Durham, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Remington Vickers and Anee Jane Wilson Vickers. She was married to the late Thomas Owen Talton. Geraldine, better known as Jerry, will be remembered as a devout and loyal church person with keen interest and faithful support of the International Order of the Kings Daughters and Sons for 60 years and the Morehead City Women's Club. She was not content merely to hold offices, she used her talents in doing good for others. This genial, friendly lady in whom good cheer, good will and good humor abounded always with a smile oneer face was a dove of the Words and not a feather only. The Sara Barker Development Center for special people will long remember her devotion ineelping to build a building to assist those special people. She founded and directed a group of womeneembers of the Morehead Women's Club and the Sara Barker Circle of the Kings Daughters performing musical shows and became known as The Flora Dora Girls. She received awards of achievement Minee Lou Creech awards, Dist. 12 award, a special award at State Convention for performing arts. In the business world she showed her interest and devotion in the building supply and lumber business for 45 years with the Coman family. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 21 at Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Clay Warf officiating. Friends may visit from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Services, Durham.
