On neember 30, 2011, Gladys McKenee Workman Gooch, 84, after a long and very courageous battle with both heart and lung disease, went home to walk the glory streets of Home with a son and other members of her family. She was the only daughter of Malcolm Jasper and Rosa Lee McKenee of Pinehurst, NC. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jasper and James McKenee as well as by one beloved son, Keith Douglas Workman of Ocoee, FL. She is survived by her loving husband, Emil A. Gooch, Jr. and by one son Forrest G. Workman Susan as well as one daughter in law Pattie Workman. She is also survived by one step son, Robert Emil Gooch Jackie and by one step daughter, Carol McCreedy Steve. Mrs. Gooch was employed at American Tobacco for approximately 22 years after which she retired to be a homemaker. She became a member of Gorman Baptist Church in 1968. She became very active in the prayer ministry of her church visiting regularly several rest homes. She was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and continued to be a very active member until her declining health confined her to her home. Gladys was a radiant, loving, Christian lady who loved everyone and who in turn was loved by all. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday from Gorman Baptist Church with the Rev. C.J. Bordeaux, Rev. Randy Thompson and the Rev. Tim Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in the Gooch family cemetery Friends will be received from 6-8 PM Friday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Flowers are acceptable or contributions may be made to Gorman Baptist Church or Duke Home Care and Hospice. Arrangements are under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
