Glen Werner Stucke

PITTSBORO – Glen Werner Stucke, age 78, died peacefully at his home in Pittsboro on March 6, 2021. He was born on March 5, 1943, to Reginal Heckman and Otmar Stucke in Celina, Ohio. He attended Coldwater High School.
Glen graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. He then was drafted during the Vietnam War as a Military Policeman stationed in Germany between 1967 -1969. Upon his return to the United States, he worked as an Industrial Engineer for US Steel. During this time, he met his lovely wife, Patricia, of 49 years one fateful night at the Alumni Club in Chicago. Glen and Pat were married in Lombard, Illinois, on June 10, 1972.
He lived on the south side of Chicago for over twenty years while raising a family and working in the steel industry. Glen was also very involved as a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of Care with his church and often volunteered with the local Red Cross.
From 2009-2011, Glen and Pat retired from their respective jobs to teach math and science in Tanzania as Peace Corps Volunteers. Upon returning to the US, Glen & his wife moved to Pittsboro, North Carolina, in July 2012, to start enjoying retirement and warmer winters. Glen’s favorite pastimes were camping, watching sports (especially the Chicago Bears!) and staying on top of the national news. He also had a penchant for jellybeans.
Glen is survived by his wife, Patricia Stucke, and their three daughters Sarah, Serena, and Amber. He was preceded in death by his Father, Otmar Stucke; Mother, Reginal Heckman, and sister, Gail Schimpf.
A vigil and service to celebrate the life of Glen Stucke will take place on Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in the Friends & Family Hall. The vigil will start at 1:30pm and the service will follow at 2:30pm in the sanctuary. The address for St. Thomas More is 940 Carmichael St, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Durham Rescue Mission.
