Glenda Hall Rhodes, passed away on December 21, 2024, in Granville County, NC, at the age of 84. Born on February 12, 1940, in the serene surroundings of Chatham County, NC, to her late parents, Garland Robert Hall and Mary Ellington Hall, Glenda’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering compassion and desire to care for others.
Glenda’s educational accomplishments were a testament to her determination and resilience. Earning her degree as a Registered Nurse at the age of 60, she took great pride in this achievement. Her nursing career allowed her to extend her loving nature to those in need, reflecting her deep-seated commitment to helping others. It was more than just a profession; it was a calling that shaped her identity and the lives of those fortunate enough to be under her care. In addition she spent many hours as a volunteer EMT and was extremely proud of her service in that regard as well.
Despite being reclusive due to medical issues in her mid-life years, Glenda worked tirelessly to step out of her comfort zone. This remarkable effort not only enriched her own life but also inspired many around her. She embodied a spirit of perseverance, showing us all that it is never too late to pursue one’s passions and embrace life’s challenges. She also fully embraced the “ beach life “ and was particularly enamored with lighthouses, her favorite being Cape Lookout which she lovingly referred to as “ her “ lighthouse. She was exceptionally talented in cross stitch, knitting and sewing and blessed many individuals and family members with an impressive legacy of hand made gifts and heirlooms
Glenda leaves behind her beloved family: her son, Robert C. Webster, Jr., his wife, Debra and their son, Jason R. Webster, and her daughter, Gayle Keleher, her husband, Hank Keleher and their daughter, Elizabeth Williams, who were consistently touched by her loving kindness and wisdom. Her best friend, Ann Ewell, was a great source of laughter and support, sharing in countless moments throughout their enduring friendship. Glenda was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Kenneth R. Hall.
In remembering Glenda, we celebrate a woman whose heart was as expansive as her dreams. Her legacy is one of compassion, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. As we gather our memories of her, we hold close the warmth she brought into our lives and the lessons she imparted through her kindness and gentle spirit. Glenda Hall Rhodes will forever be missed, her memory cherished, and her impact felt in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
