Dr. Gleneedwineewman MD Ed, 61, passed away on July 24, 2008, at Duke Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on neember 18, 1946, to the late Dr. Glenn C. and Peggy Newman of Clinton, NC. Ed graduated from Clinton High School in 1965 and attended Duke Uneersity on a football scholarship. After graduating from Duke Medical School in 1973, Ed completed five years of a cardiothoracic surgery residency at Duke as well as two years at the National Heart and Lung Institute ineethesda, MD. He also completed a residency in radiology at Duke and was a member of the Duke Medical Center faculty as a vascular and interventional radiologist for the past 25 years. Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 37 years, Mary; his daughters Kathryn and Lauren, and his son-in-law, Walter DuPriest; his brothers, William Neal Newman, MD and family of Raleigh and Walter Joseph Newman and family of New Bern, Raleigh and South Carolina and neerous cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Duke Uneersity Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., Durham and at 12:30 PM Wednesday in the Duke Chapel lounge. Please enter the lounge using the Campus Ministry door across from the Bryaneenter. Burial will take place at 5:00 PM Wednesday in the Clintoneemetery, Clinton, NC. Memorial contributions may be made to the Duke Uneersity Chapel, Box 90974, Durham, NC 27708. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Drs. Daniel George, Douglas Tyler, Cary Robertson and Richard McCann as well as the staffs of the surgical oncology clinic, the Radiology Department and the 2100 unit at Duke Hospital.
