Goldie Elizabeth Garrett

Goldie Elliott Garrett, age 64, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Born on May 15, 1959, in Granville County, North Carolina, Goldie was the daughter of the late Joseph Elliott and Rosalie Currin Barnes.

Goldie's memory will be cherished by her devoted husband of 16 years, Julian W. Garrett. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: her son, Johnny Gray Clayton, II (April Pugh Clayton), and their children, Johnny Gray Clayton, III, and Daniel Curtis Clayton; her daughter, Krystal Clayton Gill (Robert Wheeler Gill), and their children, Colton Blake Gill and Carter Bryce Gill; and her son, George Wesley Clayton. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings, John Barnes (Vickie) and Cheri Barnes, along with an extensive network of extended family and friends.

Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Clayton, and her siblings, Jack Elliott and Karen Murray.

A funeral service to honor Goldie's life will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the chapel at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, located at 503 College Street, Oxford, NC. The service will be officiated by Reverend Wayne Clark and Pastor Gray Clayton. Prior to the service, a visitation for family and friends will take place from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the same location.
