Grace Tiller Jones passed away peacefully on the morning of December 15th, 2014 at Alamance Hospice Home. Born on Valentine's Day in 1918, in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Leo aneeffie Tiller. She moved to Durham at a young age and worked at American Tobacco Company for many years before retiring in 1980. Aunt Grace as she was affectioneely known by many, was a devout Christian and a longtime member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and later Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Merle T. Jones, brothers, Leo Tiller Jr., Ed Tiller and Ted Tiller, sisters Collier Rich, Edith Sneer and Katherine Tiller, and goddaughter and niece, Kathy Rogers Young. Surviving are her sisters Sarah "Dot" Rogers, Ruth Dudley and Bobbie Rigsbee and brother Kenneth Weeks Tiller (Reba) and her goddaughter and niece, Donna Faircloth and neerous relatives in the Tiller and Jones families. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19th at 2 pm at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, 4109 Guess Rd., Durham. The family will receive visitors at 1 pm Friday in the church fellowship hall. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Woodlawneemorial Cemetery.
