Hannah Braswell

Hannah Southerland Braswell, of Pendergrass Street in Durham, died neember 7, 2008 at her residence. She was 75 years old. Mrs. Braswell was born in the Bahama area of Durham County on neember 1, 1933, the daughter of Sam and Minee Bowen Southerland. She was a graduate of Louisburg College, and retired from the Durham County DSS where she was employed as a bookkeeper. Mrs. Braswell was a member of St. Paul's Uneed Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband Swanson Braswell; son, Joe Braswell of Durham; daughter and son-in-law, Iris B. and Joe Moore of Lumberton; 4 grandchildren, Chris Braswell, Alex Braswell, Jake Moore, and Hannah Moore; brothers, Phillip "Pete" Southerland and Richard "Buster" Southerland; and sisters, Carolyn Britt, Dorothy Leonard, Margaret Peeler and Sammy Watson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Braswell was was predeceased by three sisters, Iris Bryant, Becky Rummelt aneetoile Fitzgerald. The service celebrating Mrs. Braswell's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, neember 11, 1008 from the graveside at Maplewood Cemetery. The Reverend Mark Stephens will preside. Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
