Hazel Berry Cagle, died in Durham, NC on August 26, 2016 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Cagle of 54 years. Hazel graduated from Caldwell High School in Caldwell, NC. After graduation she immediately began working at Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. as a machine operator. There she met her husband Thomas and they were married at her family home in Caldwell, NC on Christmas Eve of 1949. Hazel retired from Liggett & Myers after 44 years of employment. Prior to her decline ineealth she enjoyed breakfast with her fellow Liggett & Myers colleagues at Bojanees several days a week and walked daily at Northgate Mall with her friends. She was a very active member of Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church in Durham for over 50 years. Mrs. Cagle is survived by her daughter, Helen Cagle-Crumbley of Rougemont, NC, her grandsons, Alexander Crumbley of Rougemont and Aneew Crumbley of Durham. She is also survived by her sisters, Grace Parker and Pearl Simpson of Rougemont, Virgilene Poplin of Raleigh and MaryBelle Jordan of Durham and her brothers Roy Berry of Rougemont, Coy Berry of Timberlake and Daniel Berry of Hillsborough. Her pallbearers will be her nephews. A funeral service for Hazel will be at Mt. Bethel Presbyterian Church at 3541 Rose of Sharon Rd, Durham, NC 27712 on August 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. Family will receive friends and family for visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow after the service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Durham at 3712 Cheek Rd, Durham, NC 27704.
