Helen Smith Howard

Mrs. Helen Marie Smith Howard, 88, a twelve year resident of Crescent Green Assisted Living of Carrboro, and formerly of Bynum, died May 7, 2008 at Crescent Green. Helen was born in Burlington oneeptember 21, 1919, the daughter of Edward Smith and Lizzie Allred Smith. For most of her adult life, she was employed by JM Odell Mfg. in Bynum, and later worked for NC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill. She was an active member of Bynum Uneed Methodist Church as long as her health permitted. She is survived by a nephew, Rev. William "Bill" Gattis and his wife Irene, of Burlington. Helen's husband, William Thomas Howard, preceded her ineeath. The service to celebrate Mrs. Howard's life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 9, 2008 at Bynum Uneed Methodist Church, with Rev. Chuck Winner presiding. Interment will follow in Bynum Uneed Methodist Church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the funeral hour.
