Helen Sunas Dennos, 88, died Saturday in Duke Hospital following a brief illness. She was born in Bronx, NY and moved to Durham as a young girl of 8. Helen was the daughter of the late Gus and Zoe Leon Sunas. A graduate of Durham High School, she returned briefly to New York City to work in the Theatre Industry. Helen moved back to Durham and married Pete Dennos. For many years she was bookkeeper and office maneer of Shaw Paint Co. retiring after 30 years of service. Helen was a parishioner of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Barbara, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Philopticos Society. She was also a member of the WIC Women in Construction. Helen was devoted to her family and her church. She had a great sense of style, was a refined lady of unforgettable graciousness. Surviving are her children, George P. Dennos and his wife, Patt of Durham, and Zoe Dennos of St. Augustine, FL; her grandchildren, Anne and Michael Dennos and Cynthia Belcher; and brothers, William Sunas and his wife, Joanne of Durham aneernest Sunas and his wife, Marian of Durham. She was preceded ineeath by her husband Pete G. Dennos and sister, Marie S. Tsantes. The funeral liturgy will be 11:00 Am Wednesday from St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawneemetery. Friends may visit 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, with the Trisagion litany said at 7:30.
