Inez Hunt Tilley

Inez Hunt Tilley died peacefully ineer Durham home on Thursday, neember 11, 2010. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday on October 10th of this year. A Durham native, Mrs. Tilley was born to the late William Samuel and Banee Holloway Hunt. During WWII, Mrs. Tilley worked at Wright Machinery Company. In 1951, she graduated from the Watts Hospital School of Practical Nursing and continued working at Watts Hospital until retiring in 1975. Mrs. Tilley was a long-time member of Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church in northern Durham. Mrs. Tilley is survived by two nephews, Wilmer L. Hunt, Jr. Myrtle of Hillsborough and Danal L. Hunt Donna of Durham; two nieces, Geraldine Hunt Bumpass Jesse of Durham and Peggy Hunt Tilley of Goldsboro; 14 grand nieces and nephews; 18 great grand nieces and nephews and many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded ineeath by her husband Baxter B. Tilley, her sister Thelma Fern Hunt and her brother Wilmer L. Hunt, Sr. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, neember 14, at Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Pete Hendrix and Bobby Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Saturday, neember 13 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. The family would like to express their gratitude to Duke Homecare and Hospice staff, especially Diane Wingo and Jim May and for the caregivers from Interim Healthcare for their tender loving care during her extended illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mt. Lebanon Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Wilmer L. Hunt, Jr, 1601 Riverside Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278 or to Duke Homecare and Hospice, 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
