Irene Gregory Matthews

OXFORD: Alma Irene Gregory Matthews, age 74 of 2513 Enon Road died Tuesday, May 12, at Durham Regional Hospital. She was a native of Harnett County and the daughter of the late Sidney Dee and Hazel Butts Gregory. She was a member of Oxford Baptist Church and was a retired bookkeeper with Granville County Schools. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas B. Matthews of the home, sons, Eddie Gail, Glenn Donna and Tony Barbara Matthews all of Oxford; grandchildren, Kim Currin Steveneeoples, Joneenee Matthews, Daniel Matthews and David Ariel Parrott Matthews and Christian Mayes; great granddaughters, Geneva Pickard and Avery Currin; one brother, Grady Lyndia Gregory, sister-in-law Mattie Gregory and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded ineeath by one brother Sidney Earl Gregory. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 15, 2009 from Gentry-neell and Vaughan Funeral Chapel by Dr. J. Steven Bolton. Burial will follow in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be Thursday from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home.
