Irvin Gordon Fulton

Irvin Gordon Fulton, age 93, died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Duke-Raleigh Hospital. ??Irvin was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Julian Carr and Margaret J. Norman Fulton on March 9, 1921.?? Irvin moved to Durham from Greensboro in 1941 to accept a job with Wright Machinery Co.?? In August 1942, he met his wife, Doris Bobbitt, on a blind date; they married in January 1943, and were married for 67 years.?? He was a member of First Baptist Church in Durham and spent his entire 45 year career at Wright Machinery as a mechanical design engineer, specializing in packaging machinery. In addition to his engineerineexpertise, Irvin enjoyed making furniture, and a number of pieces were specially made in his basement workshop as gifts for his children and grandchildren.?? His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom he adored. ??Irvin is survived by his three loving children: Ann Scott Fulton and husband, William D. Luton, of Raleigh, NC; Amy Fulton Clayton of Durham, NC; and Gordon Fulton and wife, Susie, of Pleasant Garden, NC; four grandchildren: Matthew Scott Fulton, Kristy Clapsaddle, Erin Clayton Burnette and Scott Clayton; and six great-grandchildren: Reagan Marie Clapsaddle, Eli Clapsaddle, Will aneevan Burnette and Avery and Annalise Fulton.?? He is also survived by his sister-in-law, DeeDee Fulton; and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. ????He was preceded ineeath by his loving wife of 67 years, Doris Bobbitt Fulton; as well as his brothers and sisters. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2015 in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 17, with the Rev. Andy Winn presiding. Friends may visit Monday afternoon, February 9th from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham.
