Jack Thomas Dossett, age 81, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the VA Hospital in Durham. Jack was a Durham native and son of the late Grover Newton and Mamie Allen Dossett. He attended Durham County schools and the Uneersity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jack also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jack served as Past Master of the Eno Lodge; Past High Priest, Past Master and Past Commander of the Durham York Rite Bodies. He was a member of the York Grand Cross of Honor of NC and the Knights of the York Cross of Honor of NC. He spent couneess hours over the past 50 years voluneering his time at the VA Hospital. Jack is survived by his sister-in-law: Mary L. Dossett of Durham, NC; two nieces: Linda Dossett Berini and husband, Danny, also of Durham; Joyce Dossett Sprouse and husband, Robert, of Chapel Hill, NC; four great nephews: Todd Whaley, Joe Berini, Donny Berini and Jason Whaley; three great-great nieces; and five great-great nephews. He was preceded ineeath by his brothers: Samuel and Lawrence Dossett. Graveside services with Masonic Rites and military honors will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January, 23, 2009 at Maplewood Cemetery, Section 2. The Rev. Jimmy Bland will preside.
