James David Smith

James D. Smith, 85, passed away July 24, 2016 at Duke Hospice in Durham, North Carolina. Mr. Smith was born and raised in Durham, where he was educated in the Durham County schools. Upon graduation, he attended business school and worked for Pepperidge Farm for many years. He also proudly served his country while stationed in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his retirement he and his late wife, Lucy, went back to school and obtained their real estate brokers??? licenses. He continued to work ineeal estate for many years. Mr. Smith was preceded ineeath by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lucy, just 13 months ago. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Smith; brothers Tommy and George Smith; brother-in-law W.C. Colclough; sisters-in-law Becky, aneeunee Colclough; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Woodlawneemorial Park on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. Family will receive friends prior to the service between 2-3 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
