OXFORD: Mr. James D. Watkins age 83 of 4548 Watkins Road died Tuesday April 1, 2008 at his residence. He was a native of Granville Co. and the son of the late Oscar K. and Hattie Wheeler Watkins. Retired from Burlington Mills, oxford Plant, a member of Providence Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday School Teacher and a RA leader. A US Navy Veteran. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday April 4, 2008 from Providence Baptist Church, by the Rev. Wes Garner and Rev. Will Vergara. Burial will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Duncan Watkins, of the home. 3-daughters, Teresa Watkins Wood Bruce of Benson; Jamie Watkins Duke Cecil, of Stem and Robin Watkins Heath, of Oxford. 1-sister, Mrs. Marionette W. Hicks, of Zebulon. 2-brothers, Jack Watkins, of Oxford and Robert K. Watkins, of Winston-Salem.4-grandchildren, Ashley and Susanne Coffiield, CeCe Duke and James Michael Mikey Heath.
