James Fischer Trotter, Jr. October 23, 1938 to June 23, 2018 James Fischer Trotter, of Chapel Hill, passed away June 23 at his home. Born and raised ineeidsville, N.C, James was the son of the late James Fischer Trotter and Martha Neal Trotter.?? Educated in the Reidsville public schools, he graduated from Reidsville High School in 1956 and attended Hargrave Military Academy on a post graduate athletic scholarship in 1957, graduating from there that year. He went on to The Citadel in Charleston S.C., in 1958 and traneerred to Guilford College in Greensboro, N.C. in 1960.?? In 1961 James married the love and his life, Margaret Scott Rodwell of Warrenton, N.C. and started to work for The American Tobacco Company at the Reidsville Branch. In January he was traneerred to the Durham Branch and was given the opportunity to learn the manufacturing processes from start to finish. James became their Branch Maneer and in 1986 was traneerred back to the Reidsville Branch location as their Primary Maneer. While in Durham, James served on the boards of Uneed Way, The Red Cross, Saint Mary's Country Day School, and helped the Chamber on various projects. He served on the Vestry of Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C., Saint Thomas Episcopal??Church ineeidsville, N.C., and Saint James Episcopal Church in Shallotte, N.C. He served as a senior warden for a total of three years. An avid golfer, James enjoyed the joys and frustrations of the game, with his buddies, from the beach to the mountains of North Carolina.?? He was also a lifelong fan of the UNC Tarheels. James is survived by his wife Margaret Scott R. Trotter of 57 years; son James Fischer Trotter lll and his wife Elaine Blanton Trotter of Tampa Florida; their two sons James Fischer Trotter lV.,??Tanner Blanton Trotter and his wife Stephanie Trotter and their soneeter Trotter; his daughter Martha Trotter Pearson and her husband Kent Pearson of Pittsboro, N.C. and their two boys Benjamineearson and Forest Pearson; a daughter Scott R. Trotter and her husband Reid Parks of Fort Mill, S.C.;?? a brother Stepheneeal Trotter and his wife Brenda Mills Trotter of Greensboro, N.C.; and a sister Elizabeth Trotter Hannaum and her husband George Hannaum of Greensboro, N.C. The funeral will be held at??11:00 A.M.??on Tuesday, July 3 at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C. There will be a luneeoneeception in the Parish Hall following the service.
