James Foy Estes

James Foy Estes, age 86, died Friday, May 9, 2008, in Franklineegional Medical Center. A resident of Franklinton, he was born in Granville County to the late Macon E. and Zola Bailey Estes. He was employed as a foreman with D&J Body Shop in Louisburg and was a member of Brassfield Baptist Church. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Estes was a dedicated fireman with the Franklinton Fire Department for over 40 years. He is survived by his two sons: Herbert Estes of Raleigh, NC; Howard Estes and wife, Deborah, of Wake Forest, NC; his daughter, Susan Morris Phelps of Raleigh; and one granddaughter, Melissa Estes Russell. Mr. Estes was preceded ineeath by his loving wife, Willie Mae Williams Estes. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 12, from the Chapel of Franklin Funeral Service with the Rev. Clyde Waiden presiding. Burial with military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit prior to the service from 12:30-1:45 PM at Franklin Funeral Home, 504 E. Mason St. in Franklinton. Members of the Franklinton Fire Dept. will serve as active pallbearers.
