James G. Morgan, Jr., age 85, died peacefully at his home, Jan. 11, 2010 with his family by his side. Born in Durham, he was the son of the late James Graden Morgan, Sr. and Myrtle Barbee Morgan Rigsbee. He was a veteran and served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corp during WWII. Mr. Morgan worked in the finance business for many years and returned to Durham in 1970. He was employed with Carpenter Chevrolet for several years and then worked with Montgomery Ward until his retirement. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Morgan was a family man and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed working in his yard, spending time in his wood shop, and pulling for his favorite team, Duke. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Stone Morgan; son, David Morgan and wife, Kathy of Franklin, NC; two daughters, Donna Morgan Mullins and her husband Tony of Willow Spring and Lyn Morgan Autry of Rougemont; two sisters, Frances Morgan Wilson and Mildred Morgan Stephenson both of Durham; five grandchildren, Michelle M. Thomas, James Mullins, Kyle Morgan, Kayla Morgan, and Rebecca Autry; and five great grandsons. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Frank Zedick, Rev. David Powell, and the Rev. Dr. Gerald Goodwin will preside. Burial with Military Honors will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 pm Thursday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home.
