James J. Aspell, 80, passed away peacefully at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC, with his son at his side, on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. He was a longtime resident of Norwood, MA, before relocating to Chapel Hill, NC in 2013. Jim was born on August 29, 1934, and grew up ineedham, MA. He attended Dedham High School, where he was the captain and quarterback of his high school football team and valedictorian of his graduating class. Jim proudly served in the US Army as a corporal in the intelligence division in France. He earned a BS in accounting from Northeastern Uneersity via the GI Bill. Jim retired as Vice President of Bank of America (formerly BayBank) following 30 + years of dedicated service. He was an avid Bostoneed Sox, New England Patriot and North Carolina Tarheel fan. He was preceded ineeath by his older brother Robert Aspell of Roanee, VA. Surviving are: his wife, of 60 years, Mary Constance Aspell of Chapel Hill, NC; a son, Jonathan Aspell and son-in-law, Edwin Hightower of St. Petersburg, FL; a daughter, Jenneer and son-in-law, Jim Arleth of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Gregory, Gillian, Charles aneelaine of Chapel Hill, NC; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eileen and Ronald Woodworth of Norwood, MA and sister-in-law, Patricia Robinson of Southboro, MA; neerous nieces and nephews, including his niece, Heather Siekman of Bourne, MA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill, NC. Arrangements are entrusted to Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Durham.
