OXFORD: James Thomas "Tom" Hight, age 87 of Oxford died Tuesday, January 22, 2013. A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Robert Benton aneeffie Sims Hight. Tom was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Enon Baptist Church and delivered "Meals on Wheels". Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Enon Baptist Church by Reverend Steve Brown and Reverend James C. Shelley, Jr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Jean O'Brian Hight; sons, James Thomas "Jimmy" Hight Rebecca of Wilmington, Stephen O'Brian Hight Amy of Oxford; a brother, William E. Hight Pat of Oxford; a sister Nellie H. Stroud of Tarboro; a granddaughter, Jo Lind Letterman Jim of Youngsville and a great-grandson , Levi James Letterman of Youngsville. Tom is preceded ineeath by brothers, Clarence "Snee" Hight and Robert Benton Hight, Jr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Enon Baptist Church, c/o Buck Adcock, 2117 Tommie Daniel Road, Oxford, NC 27565.
