Mr. Jim Smith, 80, of Old Graham Road, Pittsboro, died February 2, 2008 at The Laurels of Chatham. Jim was born in Borger, Texas on May 25, 1927, the son of Homer Duggins Smith and Sara Snodgrass Smith. He was a graduate of Oklahoma State Uneersity and retired as a district maneer from Ford Motor Company. Jim and his wife Mary relocated to Pittsboro in 1994. He was a member of Brown's Chapel Uneed Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Smith; daughters, Leslie Williams of Burlington, VT, Dana Hickerson and Sara Curtis, both of Pittsboro, and Cathy Kreyling of Little Washington, VA; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Homer D. Smith, Jr. of San Antonio, TX. A memorial service will be conducted by Pastor Ray Gooch at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Brown's Chapel Uneed Methodist Church. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be given to Chatham County Meals on Wheels, 385 N.
