James William Bill Garrett

James William "Bill" Garrett, age 86, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Wake Med Hospital. Bill was born in Vance County to the late Nolan and Mabel Morton Garrett on March 3, 1923. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Air Force. Bill was a member of Perry's Chapel Baptist Church and the Americaneegion Post 52. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Violet L. Garrett of Franklinton, NC; his daughter, Mary Ann Watson and husband, Barry, of Graham, NC; his sons: Dwight Garrett and wife, Dorothy, of Franklinton; and Mark Garrett, also of Franklinton; three brothers: Richard Garrett of Creedmoor; David Garrett of Franklinton; and George L. Garrett of Durham; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2009 from Perry's Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Waiden officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday evening from 7:00-8:30 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, Franklinton Chapel formerly Franklin Funeral Service, 504 E. Mason St. in Franklinton.
